Revolutionary Road
Well, my psudo Titanic sequel turned out to be quite different than I expected. Perhaps I knew all along a captivating love story did not fit the mold of the critically acclaimed drama, but a girl can dream can’t she? Despite the lack of romance, the movie was itself unlike others I have seen. It’s pain is explicit and my heart ached at the thought of so many people feeling just as stuck as this suburban couple. Maybe reality lies closer to the plot of Revolutionary Road than the chick flicks adored by women across the world. If that is the case, it’s a very sad thing and even worries me. Complacency is a trap. You can’t move up or down, you can’t feel better or worse, you’re just the same. And, the notion of a “sameness” with the rest of society is very disillusioning. It’s a scary thought thinking life might one day just pass you by.
As a small disclaimer, the performances of my loved Kate and Leo did not disappoint. I swear, they are geniuses. And when April (Kate Winslet) said, “let go of me!”, all I heard was Rose from Titanic.
